Cricket Champions League, Twenty20, 2010 will be a having two groups with five teams each and all the teams will play in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will qualify for Semi-Finals, this new structure has been introduced as two teams from England were unable to participate. In the last edition of CL twenty20 there were 12 teams with four groups with the two teams from each group advancing to another league stage which determined the semi-finalists.

The first match in the Airtel Champions League T20 will be played between Mumbai Indians the runners-up from IPL and South Africa’s Highveld Lions at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on September 10. This team most of the palyers from Royal Challengers Bangalore are eligible to play in their home team also. Jacques Kallis (Warriors, Bangalore), Mark Boucher (Warriors, Bangalore),Cameron White (Victorian, Bangalore) and Ross Taylor(Central Districts, Bangalore).

The new concept of home and away choice has been introduced in this years CL Twenty20. If a player chooses to play for an ‘away’ team rather than his ‘home‘ team (the team from the country he is eligible to represent in international cricket), the ‘away’ team must pay US$200,000 compensation to the ‘home‘ team. No compensation is payable to an ‘away’ team if a player chooses to play for his ‘home’ team.
